Wayfinder 1.0

Wayfinder is a list builder for the CMF MODx. With a completely customizable layout, Wayfinder can be used to output a list, a table, a definition list, and just about anything else you could imagine. Below is a list of changes from the beta release and all of the parameter definitions. Included at the bottom are links to some examples using Wayfinder. All of the menus for this site use the Wayfinder snippet.

Support

The best place to get support for using Wayfinder is by posting on the MODx forums. There is a dedicated board for Wayfinder, access it here.

New Features

  • Updated database query so sorting works correctly for MySql 4.1.12 users
  • Added parameters for determining sortBy and sortOrder
  • Added placeholders for introtext and description
  • Added ability to show count of docs in a folder with new placeholder
  • Removed some code from snippet into class for easier maintenance
  • Added limit parameter to allow for result limiting
  • Added random option to sortBy parameter

Include multiple start ID's Web site design Sydney Sat August 04, 2007, 21:29:47

Hello... I've looked around but I can't find an answer anywhere. My question is:

Is there a way to include multiple start ID's and also a "weblink". I only need the parent level (no drop-downs). So in effect I want to choose a few parent folders to be in the menu but all I seem to be able to do is choose one folder which only displays children (not the parent)

main menu vertical, submenu right Michel Wed January 03, 2007, 11:08:54

@kjaebker
Thank you for the fast respond.
The menu I have in mind you can see at: http://www.gcreit.de/index.php?golfclub
Those mainmenus who have no submenus have a picture, I dont need that, but the menus Golfclub, Golfplatz, Golfschule etc. have different submenus on the left side.
If this works with 2 Wayfinder calls how can I do this? my native language isn't english and I haven't understood the tutorials for tv's. So I would be realy happy if you can post a step by step sollution.

@Cezz Alpha Site Design - Make sure you are running the latest version of MODx, that function may be missing from your install.

@Lee - Wayfinder just creates the output getting it to style the way you would like is up to you. Have a look around the net and find a menu you like, Wayfinder should be able to duplicate it.

@M Kraan - Take a look at the cssPlay site to see if he is offering anything like that, I just used them as examples.

@Michel - If you have an example of what you require it would be easier to reproduce. Basically all you need is 2 Wayfinder calls, one for the top menu and one for the side menu using the UltimatePArent snippet as the startId.

main menu vertical, submenu right Michel Tue January 02, 2007, 16:04:35

Hello
What I would like to do is have a main horizontal menu and a vertical sub menu. That means if I click on a main menu, the submenu of it shows on the right side and stays there if I click on a submenu item. It seams that lots of people are asking for it, also in the modx forum but no answers at all. I hope someone can help me.
thanks in advance.

CSSplay Menu - Dropline M Kraan Mon December 11, 2006, 09:29:16

lo kjaebker,
first great work.
I was wondering something, love the menu's especially dropline.
Now in the dropline it is always fly-out when hover over, i was wondering if posibly that when clicked on mainParent u then get a second row with firstSubmenu (wont go any futher cause then u will have design probs) is something like this included in wayfinder ?

grtz
